Price Analysis to Help You Avoid Overpaying

How BuyWithAI picks your target price.

When you run a price analysis, BuyWithAI looks at real cars for sale right now and compares them to the vehicle you're shopping for. The goal is to help you pick a smart target price — one that's competitive, realistic, and strong for negotiation.

What data we use

We use live inventory listings from dealers (the same kind of listings you see online). These are asking prices — what dealers are currently advertising — not "book values."

How we choose comparable vehicles

We start by finding listings that match your vehicle as closely as possible:

Why mileage matters (a lot)

A 20,000-mile vehicle and a 90,000-mile vehicle can have very different pricing. So when your vehicle's mileage is known, we filter the comparison cars to a mileage range near yours. If the market is thin and we can't find enough close mileage matches, we'll widen the range — and we'll tell you.

Cleaning up weird prices

Sometimes listings include oddball prices that aren't representative (like bait pricing, mistakes, or unusual listings). We automatically remove pricing outliers so your analysis isn't thrown off by a few strange numbers.

What the results mean

Recommended Target (your best "goal price")

This is the price we recommend you aim for. It's usually better than what most dealers are asking, but still realistic enough to negotiate toward.

Aggressive Offer (your negotiation anchor)

This is a lower starting offer designed to create negotiating room. You may not get it accepted outright, but it's a strong opening number.

Fair Offer (a "likely to close" price)

This is closer to typical market pricing. If you want a higher chance of quick acceptance, this is the safer number.

Deal ranges

We show price ranges so you can judge value at a glance:

Confidence: how sure we are

You'll see a confidence indicator that reflects how strong the comparison set is.

Confidence is higher when we have:

Confidence is lower when:

If confidence is lower, BuyWithAI still gives you the best estimate possible — but the target range may be wider.

Important: Our analysis is based on advertised vehicle prices. Taxes, title, dealer fees, and add-ons can change your final out-the-door number. We'll help you account for that during negotiation.
